This page describes the initial setup steps for using TrustLogin as the source of identity
to perform Identity Provisioning to Tableau Cloud.

How to Configure SAML Authentication for Tableau Cloud

  • You can link the Identity Provisioning configuration created in this procedure to an existing SAML app.
    For details on the SAML app configuration, see here.

Setup Steps

Tableau Cloud Settings

  1. Log in to Tableau Cloud with administrator privileges, and click "Setting" from the left-hand menu.

  2. Click the "Authentication" tab at the top of the screen.

  3. Scroll down the screen, and within the "System for Cross-domain Identity Management(SCIM)" section,
    click "New Configuration".

  4. On the "New SCIM Configuration" screen, enter a "Name" (optional),
    select the target authentication method from the "Authentication" dropdown, and click "Save".

  5. The settings are saved, and the "SCIM token" item is displayed.
    Click the "New Secret" button.


  6. On the confirmation screen, click the "New Secret" button again.

  7. Copy the generated "Secret" string.

  8. Copy the URL displayed in "Base URL".

  9. Click "Close".

    This completes the preparation on the Tableau Cloud side. Next, configure the settings on the TrustLogin side.

TrustLogin Settings

  1. Log in to the TrustLogin Admin Page, and from the "Admin Page > Settings > Optional Features" menu,
    open "Settings" next to "Identity Provisioning".

  2. Click "Add Service".

  3. On the Add Service screen, search for and select "Tableau", then click the "Add" button.

  4. You will be redirected to the "Identity Provisioning > Tableau" page.
    Click the "Edit" button.

  5. Open "Access Settings", enter the following values for the settings items, and click "Save".

    Connection URL Tableau Cloud Settings The value of "Base URL" copied in step 8
    Access Token Tableau Cloud Settings The value of "Secret" copied in step 7
  6. Click the "Connect" button in the upper right of the screen.

  7. Once the button status updates to "Connected", the initial setup is complete.

  1. Log in to Tableau Cloud with administrator privileges, and click "Setting" from the left-hand menu.
