Initial Setup Steps for Identity Provisioning with Asana

This page describes the initial setup steps for using TrustLogin as the source of identity
to perform Identity Provisioning to Asana.

SAML Authentication Setup Manual	How to Configure SAML JIT for Asana The Identity Provisioning configuration created in this procedure can be linked to an existing SAML app. For details on the SAML app configuration, see here. To prevent conflicts in user attribute updates caused by using Identity Provisioning together with SAML JIT, we recommend not configuring the "SAML Attribute Settings" for duplicate user attributes when creating the SAML app. Note: Behavior depends on the service specifications, so please check with each SP for details.

Setup Steps

Asana Settings

Log in to Asana, then from the admin console go to "Apps > Service accounts".
Click "Add service account" at the top right of the screen.
Enter a name and description (optional), select the permission scopes to allow, and save.
This procedure selects "User provisioning (SCIM)".
Copy the displayed "Token" value. (This will be used in the TrustLogin settings.)
Note: You cannot view the token again after clicking "Confirm". Please make sure you have copied it before proceeding.

This completes the preparation on the Asana side. Next, configure the settings on the TrustLogin side.

TrustLogin Settings

Log in to the TrustLogin Admin Page, and from the "Admin Page > Settings > Optional Features" menu,
open "Settings" next to "Identity Provisioning".
Click "Add Service".
Search for and select "Asana", then click the "Add" button.
You will be redirected to the "Identity Provisioning > AsanaI" page.
Click the "Edit" button.
Open "Access Settings", enter the following value for the setting item, and click "Save".

SCIM Token Asana Settings > the "Token" you copied in step 4
Click the "Connect" button.
Once the button status updates to "Connected", the initial setup is complete.

Values You Can Configure in Attribute Mapping

The following values can be specified as default functions for Asana.

Value	Description
Full name	Full name with the last name first.
Full name with first name first	Full name with the first name first.
Username from email	Takes the portion of the email address before the @ and limits it to a maximum of 21 characters.
