How to Configure SAML Authentication for Atlassian

Note: Prior configuration in Atlassian is required.
Note: An Atlassian Access subscription is required.
Note: You need to create an Atlassian account using the same email address as your TrustLogin account.

TrustLogin Admin Page Settings

  1. Log in to TrustLogin, open the "Admin Page > Apps" menu, and click the "Register App" button in the upper right of the screen.

  2. On the "Register Company App" screen, search for and select "Atlassian Cloud (SAML)".

  3. Note the "IdP URL" and "Issuer / Entity ID" under "Identity Provider Information", and click "Get Certificate" to download the certificate and note its contents.
    (You will need this information later when configuring the Atlassian side.)

Now, let's move on to the Atlassian-side configuration.
Do not click the "Register" button yet — open the Atlassian admin page in a separate tab.

Atlassian Settings

  1. Select "SAML single sign-on" under the "Security" tab, and open "Add SAML configuration".

  2. Register the information you noted in step 3 of "TrustLogin Admin Page Settings" above, as follows.

    IdP's Entity ID Issuer / Entity ID
    IdP's SSO URL IdP URL
    Public x509 certificate Certificate

  3. Click "Save configuration".

  4. Note the "SP Entity ID" and "SP Assertion Consumer Service URL" under "Information required by the IdP".

  5. Open "Authentication policies" under the "Security" tab, and select "Edit" on the policy to which you want to assign SAML authentication. If no policy has been created yet, add one.

  6. Check "Enforce single sign-on" and click Update to save.

  7. Open the "Members" tab and add the users to whom you want to apply SAML authentication.

TrustLogin Admin Page Settings (Continued)

Return to the TrustLogin Admin Page again.

  1. Configure "Service Provider Settings" as follows.

    For "Login URL", enter the login URL of the Atlassian service you are using, or leave it blank. For "Entity ID", enter the "SP Entity ID" you noted in step 4 of "Atlassian Settings" above, and for "ACS URL for the Service", enter the corresponding "SP Assertion Consumer Service URL".

5. Click the "Register" button.

TrustLogin User Settings

① When a User Adds the App from My Page

  1. Click the "Add App" button on "My Page".
  2. On the "Register App" screen, select "Atlassian Cloud (SAML) " and click the "Next" button in the upper right of the screen.
  3. If you want to change the "Display Name", enter it, then click the "Register" button.
  4. Click the app from "My Page" or the browser extension, and check whether login succeeds.

② When an Administrator Adds Members

  1. From the "Admin Page > Apps" menu, search for and click the "Atlassian Cloud (SAML)" app.
  2. Click "Add Member", select the users to add from the member list, and click the "Register" button to add them.
